Matter Residences – Connecting Your Home to the Cloud

Located at Matter Road in District 14, mattar residences is a freehold residential development comprising 26 units. It is designed by Singapore’s renowned architect AGA Architects. The project is close to amenities, schools, and shopping. NTUC Fairprice and local grocery stores are within walking distance from the development. It is also a short drive to major expressways like PIE and MRT Station.

Most of your home’s devices use Matter to communicate with each other, avoiding the need for a dedicated hub that’s often expensive. Using Wi-Fi, Ethernet and Thread (an IP- and mesh-based protocol), Matter is designed to operate entirely locally—nothing goes to the cloud or outside your home’s network unless you specifically enable it.

All brands that make smart home products that use Wi-Fi or Ethernet have the potential to support Matter, but you’ll need a device known as a “Matter controller” to set them up and manage their settings. This can be a smart speaker, display or other compatible smart home hub. Many brands are announcing Matter compatibility for their existing devices; for example, Google has promised to upgrade its original Google Home and Google Home Mini with Matter support via an over-the-air firmware update, and Amazon will do the same for its Echo Shows and Dots.

Other devices may need hardware changes to become Matter-compatible, such as Eve’s smart plugs or Yale locks, which incorporate swappable modules. Home security systems are not yet supported by Matter, but the CSA has said it will add them to the standard. matter residences
